Sold
1957 Ford Thunderbird, 312ci V8, 3 Speed Manual, 1 Top, TX Car, Older Restoration
This week Canyon State Classics brings to market a 1957 Ford Thunderbird in nice condition inside and out.
The vehicle is believed to be an original Texas car and is totlly rust free from front to back. The car received a full body off restoration sometime in the mid 1980s and had the entire driveline rebuilt at that time. The car has been owned by the current owner since 1978 and has had very limited use over the last 35 years. Bid now and don't miss out on your chance to own a solid, 2 Owner '57 T-Bird!
The list of some of the equipment:
-292ci V8 Bored to
312ci
-Manual 3spd Transmission w/ Overdrive
-AM Radio
-Correct Thunderbird Hubcaps
-White Walls
-Aftermarket Hardtop
The exterior on the car is in great condition and is solid as a rock. The car is finished in its original color of Flame Red. The paint is approx. 30 years old and does show its age, but is a very respectable driver quality paint job which was just recently color sanded and buffed and brightened up to a nice shine and luster and gets looks from everybody as it goes down the road. The paint is lacquer checked in most areas but it adds a nice patina to the car. The fenders are all arrow straight and all body lines are correct. The underside of the car is perfect with no rust or prior floor pan repairs. The chrome was redone during the previous restoration and is in good shape with the exception of the lower front bumper section which has some discoloration compared to the rest of the bright work. The car is riding on older Michelin whitewalls with correct Ford hubcaps.
The interior is in great shape all around. Almost all of the interior is original other than the vinyl seat. All gauges are in excellent condition as well as the steering wheel.
The radio needs to be rebuilt and does not work, but is cosmetically in great shape. The headliner in the hardtop is new and visors are missing. The original black thunderbird floor mats are also included. This is a one-top car with no soft top or assembly behind the seat.
Mechanically, this Thunderbird runs great. The motor provides ample power to move the car around comfortably. All correct accessories are in place and the motor has been completely detailed to original condition including use of correct Argent silver paint and application of all correct decals and hood insulation. Many new parts were installed during the freshen up. The car was just recently tuned up after coming out of storage, as well as tank being dropped and boiled out.
The car was originally a 312ci, but at some point engine was replaced with a
292ci. During the previous restoration the motor was bored out to 312ci specs and runs great. The car was also a factory A/C car when new, but none of the parts were re-installed after restoration, but are included with vehicle.
All in all, this is one very clean and very respectable '57 T-Bird. This car is a great example of a solid Texas car which has been well taken care of and is a car you can be proud to drive. The 1957 Thunderbirds are most desirable Birds on the market today, and with this little T-Bird you can't go wrong!
