1996 Dodge Viper GTS Coupe, Pace Car, 8.0L V10, 6-SPD, Alpine CD
The
Viper was initially conceived in late 1988 at Chrysler's Advanced Design Studios with the idea of producing a modern Cobra. "Team Viper" was established and they asked the then-Chrysler subsidiary Lamborghini to cast a prototype aluminum block for the sports car. Not long after Carroll Shelby piloted a pre-production V10 car as the pace vehicle in the Indianapolis 500.
Since its introduction in 1992, the Dodge Viper instantly become one of
the pinnacles of America Sports Car performance. Although the sparsely appointed street race cars in the initial generation convertible styling
were well accepted there was a demand for more comforts. The second generation Viper was born with the 1996 model year having a Coupe called
the GTS with a lighter more powerful engine. The styling was a huge success with the roof featuring raised sections known as the “double bubble” above each seat to accommodate drivers wearing helmets. The distinctive race inspired styling is evident in the massive side vent scoops, full width contoured Rear Spoiler and the Fuel Filler Cap. The GTS would come with the same 8.0 liter V10 engine but power would be increased to 450 HP. This model became the first Viper to be equipped with airbags and also included air conditioning, power windows and door locks. For this first year of production, all Viper GTS' were finished in Blue with White stripes, paying homage to the Shelby Daytona Coupe where it is said inspiration for the body design was taken from. As such
this ferocious snake represents modern American muscle at its finest while at the same time taking a few important notes from high performance racing.
This particular 1996 Dodge Viper GTS has been collector owned since new. The Viper has the classic look of a champion in its factory Blue with the wide Dual White Racing Stripes travelling over the center and back right through the rear license plate area. This definitely provides
the famous blue and white stripe look of the vintage Cobras. Now over the years the owners of this Viper have shown incredible restraint as this car remains in beautiful showroom condition throughout. Lift the tilt back Hood/Front Fender unit and reveal the legendary Red Viper V10.
This 8.0L power plant delivers 450 HP and is mated to the Borg Warner T56 6-Speed Manual Transmission. Track performance is impressive with
0-60 in 4 seconds and the ¼-mile results of 12.2 @ 118mph. On the street
it sits menacingly on the pavement with the extremely wide Michelins sporting the Viper 5-Spoke Chrome Wheels. The 2-door Coupe has an all-Black interior that provides the driver with driving comfort and conveniences for on and off the track. This
'96 Viper delivers some very special Mopar Magic in both the Coupe styling and the V10 performance. Being the inaugural year for the Viper GTS Coupe these cars have a very special element of collectability. If you missed your chance to buy one of these Dodge Vipers when they rolled

The exterior on the car is absolutely stunning. It is finished in the most desirable color of Viper Blue with white stripes. This color really announces that
you have arrived. The body is straight as an arrow with not a single ding or scratch. All glass and lenses are in great shape. The
hard top is like new and fits with minimal wind noise. The polished wheels are all perfect with no curb rash and really compliment the stylish lines of this car. The tires are OE spec Michelin Performance Radials with roughly 40-50% tread. The decal kit appears to be dealer installed and I am unable to find any de
The interior of this Viper is totally FLAWLESS. The interior is completely original and in incredible shape as it should be being a low mileage, pampered car. The door panels are in awesome shape. The supple black leather and seats are still very soft and look as good as the day it left the lot. The dash surfaces
are in perfect shape as well as the carpet and custom embroidered mats. The Red
Vipers got special red wrapped wheel and shift knob and the leather looks perfect. The CD player and speakers have all been upgraded to new Alpine equipment. The car does include the optional hard top, sliding curtain windows, and a snap in tonneau cover.
Mechanically, this
Viper runs great. I can,t describe how nice this car drives. It is extremely smooth and luxurious, but with the stomp of your foot you unleash all the power of the big V10. The car has been well cared ...
