1976 Porsche 912E, 2.0L 4cyl, 5-Speed, Cosmetically Restored
Here is a absolutely drop dead gorgeous, 1976 Porsche 912E that is in very nice condition inside and out. This is a totally cosmetically redone, low mileage car that is a blast to drive. It is a very clean, unmolested car that has been very well kept over the years.
This is an early production car and is number 294 of only 2099 912E ever produced for US sales in 1976!
This car was bought new on November 4th,
1975 at Allen's Autohaus Inc in Fargo, ND. The second owner purchased it when it was about 6mo old with around 9k miles. The third and longest owner purchased it in September of 1986 with 57k miles and drove it sparingly on and off until putting it into long term storage in 1994 where it remained until it turned up in California and was lovingly restored to its current beautiful condition. This 912E Coupe had an original MSRP of $11,560 all the back in
1976! This is a fully documented 3 owner car and still retains its original
2.0L drive train which is definitely something you do not see every day. There is nothing cooler than a driving vintage Porsche!
The following is a list of options as this 912E is currently equipped:
-2.0L Flat Four Cylinder Engine
-Type 923/02 Five Speed Manual Transmission
-Fuchs 14" Aluminum Rims
-Falken Radial Tires
-Bucket Seats
-5 Gauge Dash with Tachometer
-Aftermarket Amplified Sound System
-Space Saver Spare with Original Tools
-Etc.....
The exterior of the car is re-finished close to its original color of Talbot Yellow. The car has had only one re-spray its life and was a nice job. Overall the paint is a very nice single stage paint job which was nicely wet sanded and buffed afterwards, and the body is extremely straight and well prepped. The body is totally solid and is as straight as an arrow, showing no evidence of body work or accidents. All door gaps appear to be factory original and correct. Overall the underside of the pan is completely solid and rust free as any west coast car should be. Only a few very small, very professional patches are evident in the front wheel wells.
All the weather stripping on the car is soft, supple and brand new.
The car is riding on nicely restored 14" Fuchs wheels. The tires are 14" Falken radials and are new.
The very nice factory tan interior is all new and looks excellent. The seats, door panels, carpet, and headliner all looks perfect and really set the car off. All the gauges and lights work as they should. The original radio and speakers were replaced with a high dollar sound system that sounds great. All the courtesy lights as well as all the running lights work as they should. Also the lights, horn, turn signals, defroster, and even the lighter work. All the glass and rubbers look excellent.
Mechanically, this 912 is in excellent condition! The engine compartment is clean as a whistle and shows how well this car was kept. The car has all of its service history going back till brand new.
The original service book is well stamped showing regular maintenance. The third owner kept a detailed log during a 10 year period showing general maintenance from about 56k to about 70k. I new clutch was noted in 1988 at around 69k miles. A local Porsche shop in Tempe, AZ, looked the car over for me and did a few small things including repairing the smog pump, going through and dialing in the original fuel injection, and installing new steering wheel bushings. The car was given a clean bill of health and I was told the motor has excellent leakdown compression and passed emissions with flying colors! Both the Engine and Trans are factory numbers matching. The suspension is tight and true and handles as a Porsche should. The odometer reads a bit over 76000
miles, which is traced in the service records, as well as documented by the Actual Miles California title. All systems work and the car has zero issues and is a true pleasure to drive. This little diamond and is ready for the next cruise night or car show.
The bonnet is in excellent condition and still retains all of its factory carpeting as well as the space saver spare with the original jack and 100% complete tool pouch. Also all three gas struts have been replaced on the bonnet lid as well as the engine compartment. The original owner's manual, window sticker, and original service book, as well as several pages of service history.
