The exterior on the car is very presentable at any car show and will catch admiration for its originality. Much of the paint appears original with some blends in front quarters and rears. The drivers front fender suffered some collision damage at one point and there is evidence of an older repair showing some cracking. Some of the trim pieces show some misalignment due to the same incident. The car is very rust free showing no major evidence of rust repair or rot. The car was coated with dealer installed undercoating when new and has done a great job of protecting all of the pans and rockers. The factory original Bahama Blue Metallic Arylic on available on the The chrome and trim on the car is original and will need restoration to take it to a show level. The rear bumper has been wrapped in a chrome vinyl to increase appearance of dingy rear chrome and front is original.
The car looks majestic with the original sabre wheels and the wide white walls.
The tires on the car look good and were just rotated and balanced. All the glass and rubber are in great shape as well, with a brand new windshield just installed.
The interior is completely original material. It is all untouched from the carpet to the headliner. The steering wheel is in good shape with no major cracks and a very nice horn ring. The dash and gauges are in great shape and have only a few expected chips and scratches in normal ware spots. All gauges work correctly and the windows work correctly. The only thing not working is the clock. The power windows all work extremely good. The dash is in great shape and original chrome and stainless trim still retain a brilliant shine. Turn signals, lights, gauges, and all other switches are working correctly, even the original AM radio and antenna works and sounds great!
The trunk is all redone and has new panels and carpeting. The original trunk insulation is still in place as well as the original jacking instructions. The car also has a firestone wide whitewall spare which could be original as well and it is capped by a very nice Cadillac Sabre wheel and cap. All original tools are also in place and nicely restored. Condition of the trunk is a 9 out of 10.
Mechanically, this Eldo runs great! The original motor starts right up and runs awesome. The transmission shifts properly and moves the car right along. The suspension and steering are mostly original but the car feels very good at speed. The motor compartment is nicely refreshed in original colors. Even the correct hood pad is in place as well as the glass washer jar which is very rare as well. Both carbs were just rebuilt. Fuel system has been gone through. Complete brake system rebuild. Car starts right up first bump of the key with no hesitation. This car is ready to cruise.
All in all, this is one of the rarest mid 50's Cadillac's I have ever owned. If you have been searching for a very original, low mileage Big Fin Car the search ends here.
